On this day, August 6, 1945, America dropped atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan. This happened during World War II and remains the only use of nuclear bomb in warfare.
The atomic bomb was dropped in the city by an American B-29 bomber, known as The Enola Gay. The bomb killed approximately 80,000 people instantly (another 60,000 people died later), and approximately 35,000 others were injured.
The use of atomic bomb ordered by US President Harry Truman, changed the city of Hiroshima forever. Apart from the lost of lives, 62,000 buildings were destroyed.
