Some of the survivors of the ill-fated CP-2933 plane crash which killed 71 – including all but three members of the Chapecoense football team are telling their stories. Stewardess Ximena Suarez, miraculously survived the crash and said she didn’t “remember more at the moment” apart from the fact that lights went off, according to a Deportes RCN report.
Another survivor is a crew member Erwin Tumiri. He told rescuers that he formed a foetal position as recommended during emergencies. Turmiri also revealed that a lot of passengers left their seat and started screaming before the plane crashed.
Survivors from Chapecoense team are Alan Ruschel, 27, Helio Neto, 31, and Jackson Follmann, 24. A journalist Rafael Valmorbida also survived.
Meanwhile, their opponent Atletico Nacional of Medellin, has asked for the winning trophy to be awarded to the Chapecoense in honour of the dead.
