Senior members of the British Royal Family and hundreds of mourners gathered at Chester Cathedral to bid farewell to the sixth Duke of Westminster, Major General Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor. The duke was the richest property developer in the UK and Britain’s third richest man.
The duke’s widow, Natalia Philips, is the godmother of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. And his son Hugh Grosvenor, 25, who inherited the dukedom is godfather to Prince William’s son, Prince George.
The Duke of Cambridge and Duchess of Cambridge attended the memorial service. Other royals in attendance include the first in line to the British throne, Prince Charles and his wife Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Kent and Princess Eugenie. Hundreds of people lined the streets leading to the cathedral to see the royals.
The billionaire duke passed away in August aged 64. He was buried in a private funeral service in the days after his death.
