Green Party nominee, Jill Stein, an obscure figure in just concluded US presidential election wants vote recount in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. In the last three days cyber experts and scientists have suggested the election results could have been hacked. With Hillary Clinton now leading with more than two million popular votes, calls have grown from her supporters to challenge the result. We have pointed out earlier why she might be hesitate to do that.
But Jill Stein wants to fill that vacuum. Her campaign made an appeal to raise $2.5M before Friday to pay for recount in Wisconsin. They have raised more than that amount. The deadline to file for recount in Wisconsin is Friday. Now they are raising more money for the other two states.
Stein’s team says “the recount are part of an election integrity movement to attempt to shine a light on just how untrustworthy the US election system is”. They insisted their intention was not to help Hillary Clinton. But only Clinton will benefit if it’s established the election was rigged. Stein got less than 1% vote in Pennsylvania and meagre 1.1% in Wisconsin.
Now the question is: was Donald Trump right when he said the election could be rigged? Did he see what President Obama and Hillary Clinton failed to see? It seems the hands of Obama and Clinton are tied. How could they question the credibility of the results after denouncing Trump when he questioned it before the election. Hillary Clinton said it’s “horrifying” that Trump refused to pledge he will accept the results. If the election was truly hacked it shows incompetence and credulity on the part of Obama. They are probably bitting their nails while Trump is busy forming his cabinet.
